Interesting. Thanks for sharing this. Oracle has experimented with J2ME for a while. In my book, I discussed their J2ME proxy solutions (proxy server + client library) that allow J2ME apps to access their database and Web Services. From this release, it seems that the Web Service proxy library is still supported -- although I think it would much better if they build proxy that conforms to the JSR 172 spec.
Other than that, Orcale's focus still seems to be on WAP and SMS based solutions.
