I am seeing a huge number of phones supporting MIDP 1.0 and it appears a whole new gamut of phones coming up soon will have support for MIDP 2.0.

However, I am at a loss to see which devices in the market (now and in the near future) will have support for the Personal Profile. In my opinion, MIDP is severely restricted compared to the .NET CF, and I need the power and flexibility of the Personal Profile - but, where are the devices?

Hi,

Micheal i see you have mentioned SavaJe ... i know they are a platform for J2ME devices but i do not understand the role SavaJe and JBlend play. What i mean to say is that they define that OS will contain a certain configuration. So to develop MIDlets for device with these platforms will we need to use the API provided by SavaJe or JBlend or can we continuing developement using Sun's toolkit

SavaJe actual develops both hardware and software. I think they develop phones and then license it out for manufacturing. Sort of like what Nokia did for Series 60.

JBlend is a software vendor, I think. They make JVMs for various hardware platforms and sell to OEM vendors.
