Hello everyone,

My team is developing a library and now we have been told that the licensing will be based on the number of devices that the library will be installed on. In short we give the library to a partner company. They pay us money for the library based on the number of phones that their MIDlet suite( with our Library) is running on.

So we need to keep track of the devices. Iam hoping to get some good suggestions here.

So far all i have been able to think of is when the main class in my library is initialised it checks the RMS of the MIDlet suite for a integer. If it cannot find any records in the recordstore then it connects to my server and tells that a library has been installed on a fresh device. Once it has notified the server the object will insert a flag value into the record store. So, the server update will be performed only once.

My main issue with this model is that i dont want the user to pay for the data service access. But i do not see any other way right now of doing this.

Does any one has any ideas??? Any one worked on the licensing modules in libraries ???

Appreciate your help
Punit
