You do not have to compile the kvm to use it. An implementation comes with the the CLDC reference implementation. Its in the j2me_cldc/bin/platform folder where platform is whatever operating system u are using. If you point your path environment variable to this you will be able to run the kvm from the command line by calling "kvm -classpath . classname".

If you want to compile it go to the the j2me_cldc/build/platform where is the name of the operating system you are using. There is a makefile there and if you type make from the command line it should compile it. Go to j2me_cldc/kvm/Vmlinux(or what ever platform you are using)/build. This is where the compiled version of the kvm will be and it is this version your should run if you want to use the complied version.

The reference implementation comes with good documentation or the J2ME in a nutshell book by o'reilly is a good place to start.
