I would like to buy a UK phone (Sharp GX-10) to do some J2ME application testing here in the US. Does anyone know if I would need a SIM card in order to load and run our Java apps? Without a SIM card, would I be able to turn on the phone, load an application and run it?

You need sim card to run the phone to run java app. Buy some prepaid card, phone have to be turned on, not connected to BTS. Do I make myself clear?
