Hi all, we have developed a generic widget kit which we are using for our applications across a number of mobile platforms. The kit is based on MIDP 1.0. We are having great difficulty though with getting the motorola 720 to behave when running the software. The midlet is built using the generic sun toolkit and we have also tried building with motorolas, but no difference.

In the repaint routine we have code that repaints the whole screen if a full repaint has been flagged by another part of the code, or just the updated sections if a normal repaint is needed. Normally this works fine.

The 720 however, after a full repaint is requested, leaves the screen a blank white colour as though it had cleared it via some other means and ignored out code. This happens after switching forms or coming back from some other interruption.

In addition we have had painting issues with this phone that appear on none of the others we are using. I.e. drawing functions just not happening.

To make matters worse the motorola emulator for the phone also has problems with graphics, but a complete different set. Thus debugging is not reliable.

Does anyone have any experience they can share with us ?

Don't know whether it helps, but I just found that negative coordination is not allowed, like the following way of drawing:

g.drawString("dummy", -100, 0, Graphics.TOP | Graphics.LEFT);

It draws nothing to the screen, and seems only happen to String, not image.
