Hi,

I believe the IMEI or ESN numbers of a handset are sent to the carrier when the a cell phone attempts a network operation. Are these numbers also sent to the server when a application on the phone connects to the server using GPRS connection.

For instance, If I create a connection from my midlet to the server, will the IMEI/ ESN number of the phone be also sent to the server. Has anyone tried this before?

Regards

The operator certainly knows your IMEI number when you authenticate your phone on the network (it also knows your location and a lot of other info). But I do not think it will make such info available outside of its own network.
