I'm experiencing some weird problem using a Motorola A1000 phone (MIDP 2.0/CLDC 1.1, Symbian 7.0 OS + UIQ 2.1).
I wrote a MIDlet that displays a counter on the screen using a background thread. When I switch to another application the MIDlet's background thread continues running and updating the counter, however when I leave the phone idle for certain time, the phone switches off the screen (like if it were entering a power save mode), and, in that case the MIDlet's background thread is frozen not updating the counter anymore. If I tap on the screen with the pointer the screen turns off and the MIDlet's background thread resumes its normal operation.
Have anyone experienced this ? Is there a workaround to keep the MIDlet's bacground thread running no matter the mobile is in power saving mode ?
Thanks a lot !
implementation dependant ???
