Porting a J2ME app to BREW

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Are there any cellphone-app developers here who have experience working with both J2ME and BREW? My company is working on an LBS app that, of course, we want running on as many phones as possible. Which means utilizing BREW if we want Verizon phones included in the mix.

So, I personally am a pretty good Java developer, but have marginal-at-best C skills. I've heard rumblings about there being a JVM available for use with BREW, which I will investigate. But I am wondering if anyone has any general advice, or personal experience, related to this. Should I plan on starting from scratch and just writing a BREW app in C (and maybe taking a rfresher C course)? Is it realistic to run a Java app in a BREW environment?

Thanks in advance.
