Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can put me in the right direction as I need to develop a basic j2me project which retrieves data using EJB's and the J2EE framework. I was looking to do a basic Stock market eg for a Uni project.

I anyone has some working examples that would be awesome.

Cheers

Welcome to the ranch Mark,

I dont have any stock marked example applications lying around,
but im sure you can find many of the components you need on the
net (if you prefer that over writing the code from scratch).

I'd gladly help with more specific questions though - so do come back if
you run into problems later on in your project. I guess your going to
develop your project with the client (i.e. the mobiles) - server pattern. If
I should give you one general advice it would be to try to get it up and
running piece by piece. When the simple things work (i.e. there's a connection)
between the mobile and your server move on to more advanced things.

Happy coding

We use J2ME successfully for creation audit briefcase application running on mobile device. This application can connect to middle ware using WebServcies to sync information. I also developed a small servlet container witch successfuly used by several companies for running webservices on small devices.

Cool! I'm trying to link my mobile client to EJB's to grab a collection of data, ie stock ticker symbols and then update there value from yahoo and then return this and processed information back to the mobile client.

From what I have seen, using a servlet is the best way to connect the mobile client to the middleware. I'm not sure how this works with Web services, but interested if you have an example are some direction on how to implement the above.

Cheers
