My question concerns the
correct use of selection. I am currently running j2ee v 1.3.1 from Sun.
I have looked but I have not found a more recent release.
Everything seems to work except for selection. Here is the setting:
Using a topic name "fred", I published two PERSISTENT object messages after
starting a durable subscriber. One defines a property named "cell" with
value of 1 and the other defines a property "cell" with a value of 2.
Changing the subscribers selection from "cell = 1" to "cell = 2" does not
produce the desired result. It only works if I also change the name of the
durable subscription.
If this is by design, then selection is essentially
useless, because a typical subscriber would accept any value for a runtime
value of "cell" depending on the user.
That is, today I may set "cell=1" and
tomorrow I may want "cell=2" or "cell >0".
Given the way it seems to work, I
would need a separate subscriber for each case.

Do either of you have any ideas on where I may be going wrong? Thanks.
