Hello All,

I want to program using J2ME to prepare for the SCMAD certification. I found the Java ME device table on the Sun website. Java ME devices If I purchase one of these devices, should I expect documentation on their software and custom apis? What kind of documentation will be supplied? What kind of documentation have you J2ME developers been using from the vendor?

Thanks in advance.

I've found, personally, a good place to start is the common Java ME documentation that's around, coupled with some of the books we've mentioned in the forum over time. (Apress' Beginning J2ME: From Novice to Professional, third edition is a good source, imho.) When it comes to device-specific documentation, I've regrettably found a serious lack of it depending on the manufacturer, so searching online is often your only recourse. If you stick close to the standards and do your due diligence, you should be fine.

Thanks, Theodore! I am now reading this book. I'm sure I will have more questions as I read.
