Depends entirely on your PDA. For my HP iPAQ 5455, I've been using IBM's j9 and midlets (Java ME - CLDC profiles), but I'm fairly certain that a CDC environment would also run fine on there, which opens up to more robust applications using a greater subset of the Java SE API.

What you might take a gander at is J2ME Polish, which is a third party toolkit for developing applications for mobile devices, and the latest version (in release candidate status) allows for more full use of features in Java SE 5.0.

Good luck!

Hello Theodore Casser,

Nice to hear this, But am very much new to this, i would like to know which IDE is there to develop the Mobile projects, and do i need to install any supported tools besides any of the ide. I am using the IBM Websphere is the app server for the development, is this server enough to develop or do i need to download any others. Please suggest to me.I appreciate you if you list all of them. This is my first application in the mobile technology. I appreciate your help.

Thank you very much,

Surendar.

Personally, I'm using Eclipse for my ME development, much as I do for any other development I've been working on. I don't think there's really a need for something specific. In addition, tools such as J2ME Polish have add-ons that you can use with it so that it eases your development, and that's something to bear in mind.

You also should probably download the Java Wireless Toolkit from Sun - it's a good tool for assembling your code for transfer to a mobile device.

Hi,

I have downloaded the Sun's Netbeans and the wireless toolkit. And i had a WSAD IDE for the development. So i would like to know which is the best tool for J2ME. And i would like to know the communication between the database and the application. How it works and how would i implement tha. Please let me know.

I appreciate your concern and helping me out for this application.

Regards,
Surendar.
