The App Doesnt run on Nokia 7610

Hi Folks....

I wrote a Contact Book that perfectly runs on the Emulator but crashes on the real phone..

What really happens is that, the Application loads on the phone..
I can even see the Title of the main Form i have used...
But then immediately the program crashes....

What could be the problem....

Else how can track down on the phone in a similar to System.out.println()

By any chance are you using the PIM package in your application?

Invoking a Class from a package not present on the phone should throw a Class Not Found exception but I have seen the app crash when you access PIM on some phones.

hi,

no i know PIM APIs are not available on my phone...

So i have used a custom built Contact.java class for this purpose....

I believe the problem is due to something else, which some of you must have already encountered...

Please post the way out, if you had already found one..

Although I am not sure if its compatible with your device, Nokia does offer on device debugging. I would check Forum Nokia to see if its a option for your situation.

You could also try surrounding your initialization code in a try catch (Throwable), not exception. Disable most of the initialization steps. Keep enabling portions of code until you get the error.

If you can give us more info on what you are doing in your code and what packages etc you are trying to access, it will be helpful to find out what could be going wrong.

There is no one reason for a App to crash the phone.

Also, have you been able to locate any module of your code where the crash is occuring?? posting your code would make it easy to troubleshoot.

I feel it was a textField.delete(0,textField.size())

After a lot of pain of tracing it, when i replaced the code with setString("") it was working...

Still i dont buy the discovery and feel there could another serious contributor for this...

the packages i use are rms, lcdui, io...

If you sync with my opinion please explain why this would have happened...
