Hi all,

I am writting a midlet that connect to ip camera, receive the jpeg and display them. It works fine in most of the smartphone, but on some pocket pc, it has a problem. For pocket pc, I installed IBM J9 or Intent Midlet manager to run the midlet. However. my midlet has a problem when it create image with Image.create Image(data, 0, data.length) in which data is jpeg I get from ip camera.

I know that MIDP does not support jpeg in native and IBM J9 and Midlet Manager also does not support jpeg. I cannot convert the image from JPEG to PNG on the camera side as well. I think the best choice is to use some kind of JPEGDecoder or PNGEncoder to convert the jpeg image data from IP cam.

So do anyone know where I can find JpegDecoder or PNGEncoder which works on j2me or any possible solutions ?

Any helps would be deeply appriciated.

Van Vu.

I found a similar discussion at http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-69933.html

together with references to JPEG encoders . Non J2ME encoders, but it is put in perspective what needs to be done to port it to J2ME.

Note though that this can perhaps be too intensive computationally speaking.
Did you consider the alternative of using a proxy/server between the camera and the phone to do the actual conversion?

Hope it helps,

Eduardo
