hi
i have bought complete reference j2me book.right now i have installed cdc,wtk 2.5.1 kits alongwith netbeans.
my question is how to begin programming from scratch in j2me.i mean the steps required for compiling and running code for j2me.
also is there any other software needed for running j2me codes.

I'm sure the book will tell you all you need and if you are using netbeans that will compile and emulate the code you have written.
