i am wondering if, is it possible free to send out a sms through a j2me midlet installed in my phone?

let say i have a midlet application which will send out a message to another phone number.

once i sent it, will my balance get deducted ?

i know it sounds silly but i need a confirmation.
thanks in advance.

Although you are able to send an SMS from inside your Midlet, your Mildet uses your phone's native methods to transmit it and so the SMS eventyaly passes through your mobile services provider and so you get charged.
