I've used the GIMP software to create a plain 60 x 64 grey translucent image for my generic MIDP2 midlet.

Without any compression it's 16KB. If I change the compression level set to a maximum of 9, the file size comes down to a nice 1KB.

Question is: Will the image still be display ok with a compression level of 9?

Cheers,
James

Try it in your web browser. Actual appearance on a mobile device might vary slightly, especially if you're comparing a 3-inch 320x240 screen to a 20-inch 1600x1200 screen, but at least you'll get a general idea.
