Howdy,
I am trying to find a program that will allow me to monitor the status of java threads in our version of WebLogic Server 5.1 Service Pack 8. I would need the program to run from my PC and connect to the Unix servers to monitor the threads. Further, I need to know how many threads are being blocked, how many are free and any other helpful stats. If anyone knows anything, please let me know.
Paul

You didn't say which UNIX, but with HP-UX we just used an
X-package like Reflections and then ran their "glance"
program which shows just about anything you could imagine.

Thanks for the info. We are using HP/UX. Glance does give us some additional data, but what we really need is a utility that will tell us which threads are blocked versus just sleeping and then report, in a graphical/historical way, so that we can make reports and possibly use to alert us when there are problems. I did not see if glance would do this. Am I correct? Do you know of any program that fits my description?

I think Glance will do this. I would contact HP and find out -
unfortunately I'm no longer on HP-UX so I can't poke around
and tell you exactly how to do this. I don't know of any other
programs that will do this.

Jim,
After I looked at Glance, you are correct that it will give some basic thread information by using the Thread ID and supply basic stats. However, it does not supply enough information such as blocked vs. waiting vs. locked, and it does not supply any way to store the information that I know of. If it does and I am just not aware, please let me know.
