Suggestion: need to search across forums

The "search" tool would be sooooooo much more useful if it could do a full-text search across all of the Big Moose Saloon: if searches weren't constrained to a single forum.

That is a feature of UBB, our forums software. We used to have it enabled, but found that it's terribly inefficient and would detrimentally affect the performance of the Saloon for others, when someone was searching. So, that feature has been disabled.

Sometimes, I'll have success using google to search for content in the Saloon. I'll use a search phrase similar to "saloon.javaranch.com whatever-keywords-I-am-after".

That would be more effective using "site:saloon.javaranch.com keywords"! That way, search results will be restricted to the Saloon.

If you go to the main JavaRanch page, you will see various Google search options, including searching the forum and searching the rest of the site.
