Hi brave reviewers,
"We need your photo for the book! It can be color or black and white, any size, but try to get a head shot. We'll crop and resize. Try to get us the highest resolution you can--remember this is going in a book, not on a web page. Can be jpeg, tiff, photoshop, whatever. We'll do all the converting. The higher quality, the better.
And on a happy note--a guy who reviewed and was in the
EJB book, Dave Cronin, just wrote to tell me that he just got a very awesome high-end
Java job, which he thinks he secured in part because of his picture in the book... he walked in to the interview and the HFEJB book was sitting on the interviewing manager's desk. So he asked him to casually flip to page... : )
That would have backfired had the manager said something like, "This book SUCKS! Sheesh, don't they do technical reviews?" but thankfully, the story had a happy ending.
So, the moral is--you just never know where that little photo can take you. To you single guys--hey, it can be a real chick magnet. And to you single *female* reviewers, well, what can I say? Given that 90% of the readers will be male... they'll probably make wall posters out of your picture.
cheers, Kathy
