Hi I was looking at this Job opening that said one of the requirements was knowledge of extreme multithreading. What exactly is that?
Thanks
Shilpa

Like regular multithreading, but you wear obscenely expensive sunglasses and speak in obnoxious slang.

Just kidding. Perhaps they just meant "lots of threads?" The term doesn't officialy mean anything -- they just made it up.

Well good, cause I could manage the slang but not so sure about the sunglasses
I thought so. When I looked up in google, I realized that almost all the job related entries with that term were from that same company

Thanks!

Perhaps they mean 100s of threads for a web server or something. Shows a fundamental misunderstanding of threads to call something 'extreme' based on number though.

Maybe its a position in Bagdad?

Hi Shilpa
I think it means threading as relates to synchronization, memory visibility and instruction re ordering. I am not sure how many people know about this.

Thanks
