Does anyone have code developed for Thread pooling without using Concurrent or any other utility?
I did not find any code examples which clearly defines what is required in the thread pooling manager class.
Appreciated
Thanks

Hello "akshitija"-

On your way in you may have missed that we have a policy on screen names here at JavaRanch. Basically, it must consist of a first name, a space, and a last name, and not be obviously fictitious. Since yours does not conform with it, please take a moment to change it, which you can do right here.

We developed a thread pool class for the previous editions of our book. This is obviously now obsolete with the introduction of the concurrent classes with JDK 1.5. However, the old examples are still available on the O'Reilly web site. Look for the "ThreadPool" class example, used somewhere in chapter 7.

Apache Commons has a thread pool, too. I found it educational to read and pretty easy to see how it works. One part of it is a blocking queue. You don't have to roll your own any more with modern JVMs but if you're on 1.3 or older these are pretty cool little classes.
