Thread is a light weight process, because it requires few resources .

what are the resources used by thread?

This statement is often made, as a simplification for the beginner.

What is actually occuring is that the system has to read the disc, which is slower than just about everything else on the machine, to get the program loaded into an area where the machine can begin doing the work described in the program.

Once that is done, the supposed resources are in place.

public static void main(String[] args) is where the first thread enters, and is traditionally called the main thread, for that reason.

That thread can then launch other threads.
