Hi Can any one throw light on

why we have wait, notify, notifyAll methods in Object class

That's Simple.

As you know all classes inherits java.lang.Object. While this wait(),notify() and notifyall() are thread management methods which will be available to all classes in Java Universe.

This question has come up many times in the past. Here is what I found by searching for all posts with "wait notify object" in the subject line. I'm pretty sure most of those are directly addressing the same question you asked.
