I'm a little confused about this word. What I know is that Threads are little programs. (1) Is it? So when you say "Multi-threading" in Java, it means, "Multi-programming"? It kinda sounds strange.

(2) What are these Thread Objects? Based on the API,

"A thread is a thread of execution in a program. The Java Virtual Machine allows an application to have multiple threads of execution running concurrently."

(3) What do you mean by a "Thread of Execution"? Does it mean a part of the program..? Actually I'm also confused on the "...to have multiple threads of execution running concurrently" part but I haven't reached that part yet of the K and B book so I'll just raise it later if I am not satisfied with K and B's explanation (which happens very rarely).

Please help me clarify my understanding. Thank you very much in advance.

Whenever I get that sort of question I refer people to the Java Tutorial. It usually helps. If you still have problems after reading that, please ask again

OOps ..sorry there's also a threading explanation in the Beginner's FAQ.

Will just read the link you send. Thank you very much for your time!

---- Update ----
And I have just finished the chapter on K and B beginner's book about Threads last night (a must read ), at least now I can see the light. Next time I'll read first before posting.
