I am writing an ordering form for my friends webpage in java. I am using Netobjects Bean Builder. I would like to have the site users download the applet and web page to their hard drive then use it as a local ordering form. What I am having trouble with is getting Strings to be saved to a local text file of their previous orders in a fashion that they can edit/view from Windows Notepad. It also has to use one of the strings for the name of the text file. Any help. Even though I am using beanbuilder, I can use real java code so please don't hesitate to help.

I don't see why you can't just open the text file and read the lines in the file. If the applet is running off of the local hard disk, it should have access to everything on the disk.
