can applets reside on the client machine

hello,
i have a doubt . what if i have my applet placed in the client's machine and give the path of the applet in the "code" of the applet tag. if we can do so then will there be any implications on the functionality of the applet.

Sure, you can do that.
But then if your applet tries to access anything other than the client machine (like a company database) you will need permission to play outside of the sandbox.
