Hello!
To run a java program run time is enough.
In a browser JVM is embeded,then can i run my application in a browser?
Also can i talk with a other than host socket in an applet program using url connection, using the same can i do i/o operation?
pl. clarify my doubt.

You can run applets in the browser environment, but not applications.
Applets are more restrictive than applications in terms of what you can do. Usually a lot of applet operations needs clearance from the security manager. Theoretically you can do almost everything in an applet that you do in an application. However, at runtime, some operations might fail and/or raise security exceptions if the environment in which the applet is running dissents a specific action due to security reasons( like accessing a local file etc. )
