I hate to bring up this issue again but I'm getting desparate. I have a JApplet that runs in appletviewer but not NS 4.6 or IE5. The browser shows the applet notinited message. All of the replies to similar questions say to debug using the messages in the Java Console. Well, I don't get any messages in the console! No error messages, not even an indication the applet is noticed. I have used the HTML converter to put the correct tags in in the HTML and they appear to be correct to me. Any idea what's going on, or at least how I can figure out what the problem is? The applet is running on my machine, everything local and in 1 JAR fle, NT 4.0. Thanks for any help!

With IE5 you have to turn the Java Console on in the advanced tab of Internet options. It sounds like a security violation or a missing class. Are all the Swing classes located on the server in a directory that IE5 will find?

If you are using the Java plugin to run your applet, then you will need to check out the separate "console" provided with the plugin.
