How to submit HTTP requests from an applet

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Good Day,
I would like to create an java applet that functions like a toolbar. It will have buttons for certain functions. When the button is pressed, I want it to submit an url to the server. The server will process the request and post the reponse. It would be helpful if I could specify which frame is the target of the response.
Is there an object/api that specifies the browser that the applet is living in?
Regards,
