Socket and URL's

Hi All,
To make connection between server and client, I have to use both means Sockets and URL's? Or I can use any of them. What differnce between URL's and Sockets...

Though they are not directly related, you can think of a URL as an address on an envelope, where it simple point or directs the envelope to a particular location. A Socket is more like a telephone call, in that it is a direct, fixed (kinda) connection between two locales. If you want true communicaiton between a client and a server, you looking at sockets.
