Calling a method in applet from javascript..

Hi,
I am trying to call a method in an japplet from javascript. I am using java plug-in 1.3 and had used the html converter to embed the object. I have set the values of both scriptable and mayscript parameters to true. However when I call a public method of the applet from javascript it gives an error saying - object doesn't support this property or method. Can anyone let me know what could have gone wrong?
