Hi,
I have downloaded tomcat3.2.1 but couldn't install it properly. I unzipped it in c:\jakarta-tomcat\...
On my system Java is installed in C;\JDK1.3, so in startup.bat and shutdown.bat,after the line
if not "%TOMCAT_HOME%" == "" goto start
I added the two lines:
SET JAVA_HOME=C:\JDK1.3
SET TOMCAT_HOME=C:\jakarta-tomcat
and made the same changes to shutdown.bat.
After this, In autoexec.bat I have set the path:
SET PATH=c:\jdk1.3\jre\lib;c:\jdk1.3\jre\bin;c:\jdk1.3\bin;
I added and updated the CLASSPATH:
C:\jakarta-tomcat\lib\servlet.jar
C:\jakarta-tomcat\lib\jasper.jar
After creating shorcut of startup and shutdown.bat and setting their memory to 4096,when I clicked on the startup icon I got some error message like:
Unable to set CLASSPATH dynamically.
Note: To set the CLASSPATH dynamically on Win9x systems
only DOS 8.3 names may be used in TOMCAT_HOME!
Setting your CLASSPATH statically.
Using CLASSPATH: C:\JAKARTA-TOMCAT\JAKARTA-TOMCAT-3.2.1\classes;C:\JAKARTA-TOMCA
T\JAKARTA-TOMCAT-3.2.1\lib\ant.jar;C:\JAKARTA-TOMCAT\JAKARTA-TOMCAT-3.2.1\lib\ja

rvlet.jar;C:\JAKARTA-TOMCAT\JAKARTA-TOMCAT-3.2.1\lib\webserver.jar;;C:\jdk1.2.2\
lib\tools.jar ;C:\jdk1.3\lib\tools.jar;C:\JDK1.3\lib\tools.jar
Starting Tomcat in new window
Bad command or file name
What is the problem? Please help....
thanx

Hi.
You must not modify startup.bat or anything in bin directory.
What you have modify -among other things- workers.properties in conf directory. There you declare the path to your jdk installation and your tomcat installation.
Since installing Tomcat is not so easy, I advise you to read installation.html that is in the doc directory.
