hi,
In Applet, we can use showStatus("please wait, itis loading..."); to get rid of the default one.
How to set it in Dialog?
Thanks
Simon

The setStatus() method that applet uses can only be used with applets, since writing to the status area is handled by the browser, and only applets run in the browser. Frames and dialogs won't do it.... you can, of course, pop up a little window with a label saying "LOADING", or set the cursor to an hourglass, or have a status bar in the dialog window, or several other things... it is up to you...

What about when you create a Dialog in your Applet Code, using the BrowserFrame as the owning frame, and it says 'Warning: Applet Window' in a status bar at the bottom of the dialog, does anyone know how to change that?

hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Dave, Indeed, I use Dialog in an applet. It always shows "Unsigned Java Applet Window". I want to change it, do not know how?
Thanks,

You can't... this is part of the security restrictions that applets have. What is to stop you from popping up an applet window that looks like... say... an ICQ or AOL Instant Messenger login screen and capturing name and password information and collecting it?
