Swing in IE 5

Can I use swing in IE 5 / Netscape 4.7 ?
If no, whats the way out ?

You can... but you will need to use the Java 2 plugin, and HTMLConverter ( both provided by Sun )... search some other threads in this forum for more info on how to use them both...

thanks for your replies.
But do my clients also need to have plugin installed ? If yes, I think its a major drawback coz I cant ask each of my client to install plugin first and then access the site !! Whats the way out ?
If my clients do not need to plugins installed, I think its simply great.

Yes your clients will need the plug-in installed.
The only other alternative is to dynamically download the huge swing.jar package alongwith your applet code. Nobody will wait that long for an applet to load.
Both the above options are not feasable if you want to deploy over the internet.
The first realization that swing is futile over the internet is always shocking. I share your grief.
