The code below represetns a TicTacToe game that I created. It complies and works great at home with appletviewer. Once I upload it to a server, it no longer functions correctly.
Try it out at this link. http://www.webappcabaret.com/snydb/TTT.html
Many thanks in advance!!!

it works fine on my machine... i think your machine does not support Java 2. you will need to use the plug-in from java.sun.com to be able to view it.
good game, btw.

yea, the X's go first and the winner gets to go first after that... i played 5 rounds (one tie) and it kept score perfectly.
is it loading at all in your browser? if so, then i do not know what to say.
also, there is some html code that you can put on the web page so other people can view it without the plug-in. i will have to go home and see what i did there before i can tell you more.

Thanks again. I just had someone else try it and it worked for them too. It's driving me crazy!!!
On my machine it loads the screen, but when you go to click on a box, it increments the X and O winner (ie. X wins 1 O wins 1..X wind 2 O wins 2...ect) and no X's and O's are printed.

well, i am afraid i am too new at this to be any help. i just tried it at home on 2 different machines and it works fine... i tried one of my programs that requires the plug-in i told you about above, and it did NOT work. so, what i thought was the problem really isn't.

If it was the calculator that doesn't work, that's no surprise because I have a flaw in thew program. The only one in question was the TicTacToe game. Does the TTT game work on all your machines??

sorry i didn't get back to you sooner.
yea, the whole game works on all 3 machines that i tried it on... windows me, 2000 and 98. 2 use IE 5.0 and one has IE 5.5. i will see if i can run it on Netscape (RedHat Linux 7.0) tonight or tomorrow.
there are a couple bugs, though. the screen does not "repaint" if you scroll the TTT board off screen and then bring it back. also, the board is gray when the game starts, and the white background fills in when you put an X or O in the square. when one person wins, the screen does not display the winning board, but goes blank. maybe you could let the winning board show until the user clicks for "new game"...

well, i copied the code you have posted above, compiled it and ran it in appletviewer, my environment appletviewer (created by auburn university students) and i opened the file in my browser... it did NOT work on any of them. is that code the same as what you have on the server?

Ed,
The reason the code above will not work when you try to compile it is that you do not have the O.gif and X.gif files. I have the thing working again. I reloaded the gif files and all is well again.
As far as the shading problem....???
I haven't put much time in upgrading it. I'm too busy with servlets and JDBC for the time being. Good luck!!!
