i got email from sun two days ago saying i was given a voucher to take the 1.4 exam. well, although it's kind of late before 5/17, i still spent some time these 2 days to review the 1.4 new features and arranged my time.
well, this morning when i called prometric to register, i was told that the voucher had been used by somebody else. they said i have to ask sun for another one. what the hell is going on?
my guess is to avoid people drop at the 11th, sun may be sending the same voucher to multiple people. who registers first gets the slot. if this is true, it's kind of sick. it looks like they only care for the test samples.
well, the good thing is that i'm not wasting 4 hours work time for this piece of paper.

That is the reason they are having a beta test. I don't know how they handle the vouchers, but they are going to do what they think is best to get good test samples.

Maybe you should call Sun and ask about it?? maybe they made an honest mistake and you can get a new voucher... only one way to find out.

An,
Like Jessica said, just send an email back to Sun or give them a call and explain the situation. What probably happened is that the person who previously had the voucher already registered with Prometric and just didn't cancel it with them before returning the voucher to Sun. Sun and Prometric are, after all, different companies so it's not unlikely to have some lag in the coordination of the returned vouchers vs. registrations.
Good luck,

Dear All,
Just to clarify about the comment Au Wang has made about the vouchers.
First of all, 500+ vouchers were sent out to testers, each tester has been logged with a unique number. Now I have had people return vouchers, so these returned vouchers have been forwarded to a new tester to give them the opportunity to take the beta, hence the response to take this beta was overwhelming, and I have a waiting list of people wanting to take this beta. That is why I asked that if you could not take the beta exam to return the voucher, so I can give another tester the opportunity.
So no I am not giving out the same voucher number to multiple testers. Unfortunately, if you return the voucher, you need to make sure you have not signed up with Prometric, because if not the voucher number stays logged as used.
If anyone has a question, please feel free to e-mail me and I will be more than happy to help you.
Thanks.

I got my voucher on Monday that said I had to use the voucher by the 17th. There is simply no way that I can schedule a 4 hour test on such short notice. I don't know what the people from Sun were thinking but they weren't thinking clearly.
