I want to display images on the side , and moving strings in the middle of my applet. I can a) use canvas , b) use panels c) display them directly on my applet.
What is the advantage of using either of these methods?
Mainly, I never really userstood the advantage of using canvas.

Hi Sharada,
The only advantage to using a canvas is that it doesn't have the layout overhead. No methods to perform layout and no default layout. Even if you use panel or applet and use a null layout there is still layout issues happening behind the scenes. If you are strickly going to be drawing then by all means use a Canvas!
Regards,
Manfred.
