Display png images on applet

hello!
I want to display images on Applet with .png extension , the gif/jpeg imagrs are displayed with no problem but when i try call a .png image it is not displayed .
any help in this regard will be appreciated .

For some stupid reason, Sun didn't build support for PNG style graphics into the base Java libraries, so you will have to use additional libraries to do this... Suns Java Adavanced Imaging API sounds like it will do this for you http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jai/index.html as well as some libraries by 3rd party developers... just look for Java and PNG on any search engine...
