**Hope no one gets sick by repeated SCJP v1.4 exam doubts**
Well, I am preparing for SCJP.
My aim is to go further according to the road map of JCert initiative. (http://www.jcert.org)
The first skill in the roadmap is SCJP.
(Mentioned as 310-025).
The question is if I take version 1.4 test
(310-035) can I go further in the road map?.
Or If I put the question otherwise..
Can I show 310-035 in place of 310-025 wherever needed in the 'Certified Once, Recognized Everywhere' road.
Also for SCWCD requirement is clearly said as
Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2 Platform 1.2
(http://suned.sun.com/US/certification/java/certification_details.html#web).
Did SUN announce yet about the usability of 310-035 in place of 310-025 ?.
Anyone can help me to choose the version exam ?.
It looks wise to write 310-025..but I personally prefer to write 310-035, (and get away from AWT )
Thanks
Latha

Hi Latha,

I am too like you, preapring for SCJP2 exam. What I personally think is you should do whatever is latest. So, even though they(Sun) have dropped AWT and IO, we should go for SCJP 1.4 exam. Ithink once you are scjp 1.4 OR SCJP 1.2, it won't make much difference as far as prograamer certification is concerned. Only thing is you should not bypass AWT and IO completely for your sake only. This is my view .
What I have planned is to prepare for SCJP 1.2(along withAWT and IO ),
Once I feel confident, I'll start my mock exams,
and in the end I'll look whether SCJP 1.4 is available there or not? if that is taking time, I'll get certified as SCJP 1.2, finally the certification is approved in the market and that's from SUN!!!
Thanks

Mandar and Latha,
Here is a response from Sun on your question:
"Yes the 310-035 will be a prerequisite for SCWCP,
Developer and JCert too.

Basically, in order to take those exams you will
need the Java Programmer (any edition)".
