Mike Ernest and I were selected to do a BoF (Birds of a Feather Session) at JavaOne this year.
The title of the BoF is "Certification Roundtable" -- it'll be a nice casual free-form session talking about different types of certs -- SCPJ, SCWCD, SCJD, SCEA.
So... if you went to a BoF like this -- what kinda things would you want us to talk about?

Just to provide some context, here are the slides from last year. Basically they were just pointers and the session/discussion was very informal.
Other topics might be mock exams, how JavaRanch can help you with certification, etc...

SCJP1.4 - I always wanted to ask SUN the reasoning behind removing the IO and Serialization APIs from the SCJP exam. I just don't come across any code without this.
SCWCD - I personally feel that this could be made a little more challenging, may be some more code based questions can be included and may be by including the EJBs. IMHO, this is important considering the fact that it says SCWCD for J2EE Platform, and typically the managers wants to see EJB's associated with J2EE and a high level of proficiency the moment one use the term J2EE. I think they should rename the SCWCD exam to Sun Certified J2EE developer and include Servlets, JSP and EJB here. For this they may have to change the contents of the SCEA exam.
Thanks, Sudd

I think that it should be named "Sun Certified Web Component Programmer" personally.

I don't know if it's an actual topic worth discussion but I'm curious as to how many SCEA's there are in the world and in the U.S. -- I asked Sun training reps several times at last year's JavaOne and nobody seemed to know, and while they promised to "get back to me" via email, I've not heard a word.
I'm also interested in the breakdown between the different certs. I'm an SCJP working on SCJD and intend to do the SCEA once I finish -- and, if my boss has anything to say about it I'll probably get my SCWCD sometime in the near future.
Thanks!
Burk

And, if Sun wants to stick with the name "Sun Certified Web Component Developer", they could retain the current written exam but then add a programming assignment (including its essay exam) revolving around web components and the design patterns frequently focused on in the written exam. For this setup to be backward compatible, it could be termed SCWCD I (or SWCP) and SCWCD II. The latter referring to the mentioned programming assignment/essay exam as a separate item so that it could be optional for those who don't want to take it. Sort of an "SCJD for the web".
