I am trying to do a post from an applet to the same webserver it is loaded from, no security problem there. Currently I am trying to post using the following code:
The important stuff is in start(). It should post the date 6-26-2001 to testout.adp. The post is succesfull but the applet crashes in ie right after printing out the input received while calling inStream.close();

Netscape 6 gives a null pointer exception while ie gives IOException: java.io.IOException: Stream closed. Does someone know of a better way to do this, or even a way that works? Why am I getting an IOExceptions for closing the input stream??
Thanks
Eventually this applet will pass the client's actual ip address to the server for comparison. Some action will be taken if the ip that the server reports and the client applet reports are different. So the other problem I plan on having is making the applet run without displaying anything and serving up the next logical webpage.
