when laoding java applet

hi,
when iam loading Java applet a defalut message "applet initialising,applet started" comes before the applet is loaded.
can i remove the message or overwrite that message..
can any one give some clue,

I'm not sure how to do this in java. I know you can set the status bar in JavaScript though.
