Hi,
I am trying to conenct to a host through and applet. The sockets and all work fine if the host name exists. But If the hostname entered through the applet is incorrect or does not exist, the InetAddress.getByName(hostName) is supposed to throw the unknownHostException but it does not throw the exceptions and shows an axception in socket.permission. While is i try the same thing as an application it works fine.
Can anyone help me with this.
Thanks,

Sounds like the sandbox again. Applications aren't restricted by the rule that forbids Applets to contact other servers than the one that downloaded them.
