Have anyone tried the Whizlabs simulator for SCJP 1.4? I have read "Java 2 " by Kathy Sierra, and I understand every bit of it, but when I took 4 of Whizlabs practice exams, I faild 3 of them at 50%, and I passed the fourth with 57%. I think Whizlabs exams are very hard.
Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated. I supposed to take the exam in a week, and I don't know if I am ready or not.

how did you do on the exam's included with Kathy and Bert's book? Their questions are DEAD-ON to the real exam. So if you did well on their questions -- I think you're good to go.
If not -- figure out what topics are giving you the most trouble and go back and study those a bit, then try some of the mock exam's listed in the FAQ.
Good luck!

I did ok on the Exam that came with the book (Kathy Sierra); about 60%. Also, I did all the exercises after each chapter. But those Wihzlabs quistions making me shakey

If you are scoring 60% in Kathy's mocks and around 50% in Whizlab mocks, I'd suggest that you list the areas which you are finding particulary tough. If I remember correctly, the whizlabs simulator should help you identify these areas as it gives nice break-up on topic-wise score. Then concentrate on these areas, read from the book, revise concepts and take topicwise tests at the end of chapter and from Whizlabs simulator. I have used this technique for GC , and it worked well for me. Once you're comfortable with these topics, take full length mocks again, and your score should improve significantly. If you start scoring 80+ in your mocks, the real SCJP 1.4 should be a breeze. Just give yourself some more time and you will do well.
Here are some comparative scores, see if it is useful.

I agree with Manish. I think a score of 50% in KnB Master exam is very risky.

Hi Hanna,
Yes, our exams are difficult than the actual exam and we've intentionally done this. This has been very helpful for SCJP aspirants and has brought VERY high success rate (> 99.7%) for people who have used our products.
I'll suggest you to wait till you score > 70% on our exams. As manish mentioned, I would advice you to concentrate on the areas you are scoring less. Use the "Customized" option in our product.
Surely, this is the best place to clear you doubts and get valuable inputs from experts.
Hope this helps.
Good luck
Pradeep

Hanna: I forgot to mention an important point.
I am not sure how much time you can spend before your exam (unless you can re-schedule your exam) but I'll STRONGLY advice you to spend time in going through the explanations for the questions in our mock exams besides the required reading from the book.
"Explanation" is the MOST critical and valuable part of any mock exam.
I am sure then you'll see your score improving with each mock exam.
Best wishes,
Pradeep

I have been reading feedback for over two years and I just about all feedback on the whizlabs stuff has been positive. I strongly recommend waiting till you are getting a good margin before going into the real exam, it is very dissapointing to not pass and not necessary.

After 3 weeks study using the Whizzlabs product and having no knowledge of Java I scored 86%. The exam questions by Marcus Green( i think ) are very good as well, but alot harder than the exam.
Does anyone know if the 3 for 2 promotion from whizzlabs, is valid if you buy products at different times. As I brought the SCJP product and I'm planning to buy the XML sim, and would like to know if I get a free product.

Thanks All (specially Marcus) for your kind words!
Hanna: I am glad you are able to re-schedule your exam. Good luck!
Tony: I don't think you are applicable but you are definitely eligible for 20% "existing-customer" discount on any new product you purchase.
Please put your query to sales@whizlabs.com.
Best wishes,

I'd recommend that most people will require more than the 3 weeks that Tony spent on the study. Congratulations to Tony though !
