In Kathy/Bert's book (page 384) is something like this code:

The output is: "x1,x2 refer to diff objs".
I can only accept this if there are 3 strings (abc,ab,c) in the string constant pool and one in non-pool memory (abc); the one line 3 produces.
My question is why line 3 don't use the pool's "abc" string and creates a new?
Thanks for any help.

String created during compile time are only included in the string pool.
