why public class name and source must be equal

Dear All and Moderators,
When we have public class name complier checks for
same file name.
Why is that restriction?
Why not it compile and produce a class which has mentioned public
and while running i will give the class name so that
JRE loads the class and runs

This has been discussed here before. It has historical implications going back to the original design of the Oak language. The basic idea is that if your class requires another class that has not been compiled yet, the compiler might be able to find it by looking for source code files with the same name as the class.
