Hi everyone,
I know that there is a list of mock exams available but majortiy (I would say) of those free mock exams are based on SCJP 1.2. I am just wondering, would there be 1 mock exam which based solely on SCJP 1.4? Preferrably it is something like JXam where I could download it to do offline.
Hopefully all kind javarancher could help me out here.
Thanks.

Hi Java Ranchers,
I may have raised the simliar concern as Lee does. Could there be some mock exams which are proven the most effecttve for SCJP1.4 test?
Personally, I think this is a question of extremely importance to the success of SJCP test, counting on some generous feedbacks and comunity wide concern.

Hi there,
Not to say that I am looking for some 'effective' & 'proven' SCJP1.4 mock exams. I basically prefer a mock exam based solely on SCJP1.4 as I am not well versed in SCJP1.2, i.e. applet, layout, etc. Whenever I do those SCJP1.2 exam, it is very dishearten for me to find that I have so many error (in SCJP1.2 related questions). After I did some research, then only I realised that it was because the fact that I didn't study for those topic, e.g. applet.
I am just looking for a pure SCJP1.4 exam so that I could pin down my weakest area(s).
Thanks to everyone for helping.

Hi!
The best mock exam I tried before I took the exam was Dan Chisholm's mock exam. It has single topic and comprehensive exams. Choose the latest exams (Dec. 20). They were designed for version 1.4 exam.

Hi there,
Dan Chisholm's work is BEST!!! But I really prefer something I could take it offline as I don't have the luxury of going online 24x7. Of course I could always chop down some trees to print Dan's works out. I am really not wanting to do so to save some trees.
Anyway, thanks Yosi.
Cheers.

Hi Lee,
Why don't you just save all the pages from Dan's mock exam to your hard drive and view them offline? You don't need to chop trees for that.

I was able to buy a beta book version of Dan Chisholm's mock exam. Try send him an email and he may be able to send you one for a reasonable price.
You can also try voodoo exam. Havent tried it yet but its something you can run on your machine while not internet connected.
The K&B book contains a cd with a mock exam. It has 2 free mock exams and 1 free downloadable bonus exam.
Almost forgot....Khalid Mughal and Rolf Rasmussen's mock exam (from their book, Programmer's guide to Java Cert. 2nd Ed.).

Hi Dennis,
Thanks for the link to Khalid Mughal & Rolf Rasmussen's 2nd edition mock exam. I have the 1st edition but it is for SCJP1.2 therefore didn't fancy them (sorry Khalid & Rolf for this remark )
I have K&B book and tried their exam too. One thing I wish I could do is to be able to run the mock exam without the CDROM. Could this be done? (To K&B, I don't mean to promote any ill intention, if you know what I mean. I just want to make my life easier so that I could launch your mock exam as and when I like. Also, as I like your book and CDROM so much, I am afraid that I would scratch your CDROM if I bring it everywhere I go .
Anyone has any idea is Jxam has another version only for SCJP1.4?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
Cheers.

Hi CH. I dont see any reason why not. I've been using it without the CDROM and works just fine.

Hi Dennis,
I've to admit that I never really tried doing it without the CDROM. I will check it out tonight. Thanks for your information.
Hi Yosi,
Thanks for reminding me that I can always save it to HDD. I've totally overlooked this!!! Really shame to admit that I am actually in IT world.
Thanks.

Indeed the mock exams from Dan Chisholm are good. Did you also have a look at the mock exams from Marcus Green: http://www.jchq.net ?
Our mock-exams are concentrated solely on the SCJP 1.4 exam, you will not need to chop any trees as the mock-exams are online. But yes you need to practise online.

Hi Thomas,
Thanks for sharing it with me.
Marcus Green's stuff is of course top notch. However, again, it is not available offline. Of course, I could print it out or save it to HDD.
BTW, I've tried out www.javacertificate.com but I encountered a few glitches, e.g. whenever I click on Home, it reset my login.
Anyway, once again, thanks for sharing it.
Cheers.

We have released over the weekend new software so I thought I better try out what you are describing.
When I click on SignIn and provide username/password and click afterwards on Home then I'm back at the homepage.
If you now click on certification centre then you should see your progress and all the SCJP objectives. Is this the case?
Are you saying that you need to re-login everytime you click on Home?
I tried the scenario from above and I cannot reproduce the problem.
Hope this helps.

Hi Thomas,
I thought I may have given your some wrong information, so I tried it again on your website.
This is what I did.
1. Click on signin.
2. Provide username/password.
3. I'm logged in, can see mock exam links and a few others on the left side.
4. Click on home, all the links for mock exam are gone. See 'Become a member' link, etc.
5. Click on 'Certification center', I am asked to login again.
Tried this 3 times (I guess) and same result.
Then again, if you can't reproduce it, maybe it is just only my problem, so can ignore it.
Thanks again.
Cheers.

I'm not planning to ignore this problem, you are entitled to access the website the same way many others are doing. I will concentrate on this issue with my highest priority until I have found a solution. Problem at this moment is that I cannot see the problem, so I have to ask you some questions.
I assume you must have clicked between step 2 and 3 on the "Certification Centre" link.
Which browser/OS are you using? Are you having cookies enabled or disabled? If disabled - can you turn them on?
Are you making use of a proxy server?
My apologies to all the others who read this, however if you have similar problems please come forward. The more detail we know the better.

Looks like the browser's cookies is not set. I had the same problem before but after turning on the cookies, everything worked.

That's great news.
Hopefully this sorts also the problems from CH Lee out.

Hi guys,
My browser can accept cookies and I am behind some proxy server.
Let me try out a few setting for the browser security setting, MS IE thingy. I will let you know how it turns out.
Thanks for looking into this matter. Appreciate it.
Cheers.
