Hi,

I am preparing for SCJP from "Java 2 Study guide". I have prepared the topics till Threading but after going through the book, I feel that it is not enough to prepare for the test. Whenever I go to the dan's site and I find a lot many thing that are still to be learnt. Please advice me on a better book than the "Java 2 Study guide".

Thanks
Kaps

If you are referring to the Java 2 Study Guide by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates, then I am pretty sure you have the best book out there. I looked at several while preparing to take the exam, and in my opionion, this one stood head and shoulders about the rest. The practice exam questions are very similar to the real questions you will see on the test, and the two minute drills at the end of each chapter are great for last minute reviewing.

Also, if you plan on taking some of the avdanced exams, check out the "Head First" series by the same authors (Although Bates is listed first). They take the idea of making a technical book enjoyable to read one step further. I have Head First EJB, and I believe Head First JSP/Servlets is due this summer.

I am studying the java 2 study guide by Phillip Heller. I think it does not have the required contents for the certification.

Well I am thinking of buying some other book, either certification book by Bert Bates or Khalid Mughal (second edition).

Please advice me.

Thanks

Hey! Kapil!

Paul's absolutely right! No book like Kathy & Bert's one! Go for it. You'll love it.

Cheers
